The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion – MacArthur Park
The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion –MacArthur Park is a non-profit organization committed to enriching the community and inspiring youth by presenting professional, culturally diverse entertainment for all ages, free of charge. In partnership with the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks, The Friends restored the historic band shell at MacArthur Park which is now the new Levitt Pavilion, a beautiful venue to present dynamic performances celebrating music from around the world. The revived band shell is now used for exceptional performances to one of the most historical parks in Los Angeles. Over 34,000 people attended the 2008 summer concert season at MacArthur Park!
The Friends believe in celebrating diversity through the performing arts build a stronger sense of community. Contributing to the vibrancy of one of Los Angeles’ most densely populated areas, the Levitt Pavilion at MacArthur Park is a unique gathering place for the community by providing access to the performing arts in a welcoming and safe space. By discovering cultures through music, people of all ages, races, economic means and backgrounds share a common experience during the concert season.
The arts are a key component in building and enriching communities, the summer concert season is a tremendous asset to the Westlake District of Los Angeles and greatly contributes to the positive change the community has embraced in recent years.
Each summer, The Friends produce an annual summer concert season featuring 50 performances of culturally diverse music and professional entertainment. The Friends is comprised of community and business leaders whose goal is to sustain the summer concert season through corporate and individual support.
